Most likely. Looking at their other auctions, they don't sell a lot of coins.

$6.15 to ship one low priced coin is a bit over the top....more of a "move on" than the no mintmark thing

Quote: Did he lie? In a way, maybe. Maybe he thinks there is supposed to be a P? If so he is only lying to himself.

The mention of "being struck without mintmark" is somewhat peculiar, but does not raise any red flags to me. That said, Quote: $6.15 to ship one low priced coin is a bit over the top....more of a "move on" than the no mintmark thing

Yeah the seller knows nothing about coins, it looks like they buy from yard sales and try to resell on ebay.

So he is over valuing the coin. I dont see a reason for the question.

Nothing wrong with this ebay ad. He is not lying. Perhaps it is the very rare, "crack in the liberty bell" version?

The shipping cost may be a little high but at least you know what it is UP FRONT so you can choose to bid or not.
The coin looks better than "circ" to me....high end AU Unc in my book.
Obviously doesn't know much about coins with the "struck without a mintmark" comment but no where is he lying.

Worth a try anyway. OR maybe he thinks this is a rare coin.

Reminds me of P. T. Barnum --- "There's a sucker born every minute." This Franklin MIGHT bring $25.00 at a local auction IF the buyer thought it was MS which is not but I don't see it bringing $31.00
