I have a few coins that were graded by NCG Black backed slab with a hologram that says secure on the back. Anyone have any info on this company I can post a pic if need be.

I know of at least three different companies using NCG. I could use a picture so I know which one you are talking about.

That's not a really grading company. Someone did that themselves. The coin is considered raw and not worth PF70 money.

But why go through all the hassle? I mean it even has a hologram sticker and number on it. I contacted the person I bought it from and they stated they had several like this they was bought from an estate. I picked them up cheap just because the coins were ones I wanted. I'll try to get a full blown pic all the way around because I just don't see an individual going through this much hassle.

insideout, The reason they go to this trouble is to dupe the unsuspecting/uninitiated collecting public. For a couple of dollars they can buy all the materials needed and assign any grade they choose. There are quite a few collectors/investors out there who buy the holder and not the coin. The slabbers/sellers don't realize full PF70 DCAM prices for the slabbed coin, but they do pull in more than the coin is actually worth on the open market. If you spend any time on online auctions, the problem has gotten way out of hand. ebay took steps recently to mitigate some of the problems, but these basement slabs are still readily available. By no means am I suggesting that you should never buy these slabbed coins. The key is to buy the coin and not the slab. Once you become comfortable grading coins and if the seller offers decent photos that accurately show the coin in the holder, buy if the price is right. Then crack that baby out of that piece of trash holder once you have it. I've picked up several bargains doing this.

Okay that makes sense I guess. I don't know if I can disclose prices or not but like the one coin that is pictured I gave face value for and shipping was free. I bought it for the coin not the grade or the slab. That pic does the coin no justice at all.

NCG? NGC? Just another lousy fake grading service out to dupe unsuspecting folks.
Buy the coin, not the slab.

That's a new one for me, I haven't seen it before. No serial number, no barcode, Coin World slab shell, It's just another fly-by-night slabber with no credibility. Trust their grading for about as long as you can hold your breath.
