Hey Dave's & all, I'm doing some vamming and came across a spaghetti wings. I see there is a recent (2013) controversy of sorts with it and 18a being eds, lds, etc. from Russ on VW so I thought I'd share and see what you think and get your views on this VAM. I see they say on VW that it's a top 30 variety for the year. What does that mean exactly? Is this a list like top100, hot50, kipton, etc?... is it sought after?

If more better pics or zoom pics of other areas are needed let me know. Thanks... the discussions on VW are a touch above my cureent scholastic VAM level.

Looks to me like the guys on VAMworld called the radial die crack "die poop" and it should be a VAM18 maybe LDS. (if I am interpreting correctly while skimming the discussion.)

And yes, top 30 list for '78-s is like any other but just specific to this date/ mm.

I hope you're making home-made sauce to go with that spaghetti.

Ya, seems to be a touchy subject. This must be a good one though, I see vams&more has an au58 (which is around whare I'd put this one) asking $800. Do you think that's a fair price or a bit high?

I think that may be wishful. It does seem to be a value added VAM, however. Hopefully SsDd can shed some light.

Gotta be some fresh Basil included with that.

Logan's prices represent his feel for what is "fair but full retail value" for the VAM in question at the grade. Whether other examples of the VAM sell for more or less than his prices isn't as relevant - 99.5% of us know less about the real-world rarity of any given VAM than Logan does.

His site is a fantastic gauge of relative values and rarities.

Thanks SD. Good to know about v&m. I've always thought they were a top company and their prices righteous although end of the rainbow high retail. Good to get some confirmation of that from you. How would you grade this one? Do you see a good AU slab here?

Logan McKechnie - he's the guy who publishes the VAMview Retail Price Guide, and personally adds as many new varieties to the official list as anyone. He's gotta be closing in on 3000+ VAMs in his personal collection.

Depending on their mood, I could see a TPG slapping AU50 or even 53 on this one.

Thanks SD, I knew 58 would be on a VERY good day if at all. Luster is good, highpoints still mostly there but overall too many distracting bagmarks. Any solid AU will make me happy though I'm just a touch worried about a scratch details from the hair behind the jawline. The hair does hide it well and it dosent immediately jump out at you in hand. I think I'll just shoot it to messy for a bulk sub...

Also, I'm working on a 78s vam-9 right now that dosent seem to share the same reverse or the rev of 53 or 79. I think I might have to post and get your opinion on it, I'm scratchin my noggin right now
