I have had this coin around for a while but I am still not certain if it is a legitimate clip or not. The obverse looks promising with the fading denticles but the obverse ruins it for me every time. Also note that there is no blakesley effect.

All comments and opinions welcome! Thanks.

In my opinion it is not an error. It just looks like it was pressed against something and a little banged up. One side is curved and the other is not, that does happen in errors though.

not real, the obverse looks pretty good but they botched the reverse.

I am wondering if it could be a striking clip? Meaning the coin was first struck, then struck again at the edge, shearing off a portion of the coin... Mike Diamond might be able to shed some light on this..

It appears to be a case of post-strike damage. It lacks all of the diagnostics associated with clips and pre-strike damage:

It also doesn't conform to any type of strike clip:

Thanks very much for your input everyone and especially Mike.

This one can now take it's rightful place in the "HALL OF SHAME" page. Lol.
Cheers.

Thanks for taking a look at this one Mike... larger striking clips are easier to diagnose, but smaller ones can be tougher, and I have not seen enough of them...
