Every so often, I go to some page on the forum, and then I am redirected to the Apple App Store to the Game of War page. The last time it happened, I did not click/tap on anything, I just got suddenly redirected. I'm finding this increasingly annoying.

FYI, I am on an Apple Ipad with iOS 8.3.

No. In fact, I've never seen an ad of that description.

Never had it happen to me - I am on a Mac desktop.

However, for some reason every time I open a link to this site from en email or otherwise, for some reason the page always opens at the bottom and I have to scroll up.

Earle42, if I understood your "scrolling" concern correctly, here's my explanation:
when you're subscribed to a post, an email gets sent to you every time a new post is being made. Similarly, every email brings you to a different post.

Thanks for this info Petersun, and I can see where this does appear to be the case.

It never ceases to amaze me at how sometimes the obvious eludes me. My mind likes the abstract and difficult but trips over the simple at times

Sounds like a Safari glitch. Try reinstalling Safari.

Smart move - this may help. If not - try the renewing Safari trick. Having experience with both platforms for two decades I find Apples don't have near the problematic issues, but over the last couple years after Jobs has been gone (I am not a worshiper), there has been more what I term "Microsoft Moments" occurring in Apple software.

I had this happen on my moto e phone when I navigate through certain websites. I downloaded malware bytes and it has stopped. Ive only had malware bytes for a few weeks so I don't know if it is the answer or not but from what I've read when sites send you either to your app store or to a random website with app related content, usually its a malware problem, but that's just what I've read from the interweb.

I have nothing experiential to offer, as a Wintel user, but my first attention on that platform with these symptoms would be a browser hijack of some sort. The idea of most modern browser hijacks is relatively "subtle," just to get you in front of images and ads they want to feed you rather than the ones your browser would normally offer. Many folks never really notice, or care, that they've been hijacked.

At least, that's what I've noted across the large number of Wintel system "fixes" I get stuck with as the "guy who knows computers" of the neighborhood.
