This Lincoln is still inside the unopened mint packaging. There is no damage to the plastic.

How would you classify this? Or would you even classify it? Thanks.

Looks like someone cut the coin while still in the packaging. It wasn't struck that way.

I know it wasn't struck that way. As I mentioned above, the packaging isn't damaged.

Hmmm peculiar. So it happened in the mint but how? And it's post strike . But it would still be a mint error. Hahaha I'm at a loss

Lol, that's what I want to know. I thought it was pretty interesting when I found it in the back of my LCS's store, so I snagged it. Finger's crossed it's some type of rarity, haha.

It's a mint quality control error.

That poor coin got slammed between a couple of pieces of metal.

There's no way to say how the damage occurred but it happened after the planchet was struck.PSD It has no value unless you just like damaged coins.Sorry

A piece like this demonstrates the importance of using the term Post-Strike Damage ( PSD), instead of Post-Mint Damage ( PMD).

The term PMD would not fit for a piece like this, and it is not an error either. PSD is the only term that fits.

It didn't really think this was worth any premium. I purchased the mint set because the damaged Lincoln caught my eye, and I said... out loud mind you, "how the heck did this happen?".

Hopefully you guys thought it was pretty cool too.

Thank you for the input and the PSD identification.

I think it's cool yeah its damaged but still neat. If the quality control there at that time worked at McDonald's they would have a lot of wrong orders. Idk it might be more accurate to say spoiled meat. Hahaha
