awesome site first off, I found this at work and being a cashier I see plenty of coins every day. Haven't seen one like this before, curious if its an error or someone messing around. Thanks for any input!

to CCF. It is called a Dryer Coin. It got stuck in a commercial washer/dryer and got damaged. It is considered post mint damage. John1

I would be interested in someone addressing how the rim has encroached on the letters or vice-versa. Seen plenty of Dryer Coin examples but have not noticed , or at least paid attention to this happening in such a consistent manner. Could we/I see a pic of the edge of the coin .

Are you basically saying it looks too round to be a Dryer Coin, Stoneman?

If you took a coin and hit the rim over and over with a spoon, it would roll the edge over the devices. The reeding would be gone. (a way they used to make quarters and halves into a ring) On the commercial dryers, the fall from the top of the drum in effect did this. The longer the more affected the rim would roll over. (same way the spoon would round them over)

Thanks coop, are you saying it's definitely a Dryer Coin or you want to see the rim as well?

The rim and the tops of letters/ bottom of numbers should to me have some semblance of separation and to be beaten about this badly the rim doesn't seem to have the proper amount of damage. Would like to see the reeds on the edge. Also were it a VLDS coin both dies seem to have degraded quite evenly. Ultimately I'm curious

Yes, it is a Dryer Coin. The flatten on the EPU is also another sign PSD. When the coin falls from the top of the dryer to the bottom, it doesn't always land on the rim. The faces also gets damaged. Depending how long they are left in the dryer, the more damage they will suffer. 44
