I have searched 100,000s of Ikes and have heard funny sounding clad coins. Now that I have a gram scale I decided to weigh one and it came in 2 full grams light. Is there an explanation for this? Surely, it's not counterfeit...who would waste the time/effort?

Regular 1974 Ike - weighs correctly

Ike looks like he's got eyeliner on in your photo.

While certainly possible, what would be the point of counterfeiting an Ike?

If this is a fake it's a very good one.

The eagle looks WAY too worn compared with the rest of the coin.

Is it the same thickness as ones that weigh correctly?

A half dollar is 11.3g. How would you explain the doubling of the weight?

So, you're thinking a light (defective) planchet?

That would certainly explain the reverse strike, just an underweight planchet. That said, it kinda does have that "white metal" look to it. Interesting!

It took me a few minutes and now your quote looks out of place.

I'd agree that it's probably struck on half dollar stock. See if it's the same thickness as a half--could be worth a few bucks.
