Hi there,

I am looking for help identifying this coin I found in a large, varied collection of coins haphazardly stashed in my parents' attic and basement. I did not clean this coin, but did put it in the coin flip. It has not seen the light of day (til now) in decades. It would've been collected by my great grandmother or great grandfather (or someone they were related to). They died in the early 1950's. Any ideas would be most appreciated. I apologize if my images are not great. Be patient with me as I am a rookie!

I'm away from my references at the moment, but it looks to be Tibet or Nepal. I'll check when home if nobody has ID them.

It's a " belly dancers token". Made to look like a Ottoman era coin from Algeria if I remember correctly. Notice what looks like Arabic script is more or less just scribbles.
I have several just like it.

Correct; it's a jewellery imitation with a design somewhat crudely based on Ottoman Algerian silver coins. If you do a forum search for "imitation Ottoman algeria", you'll find a dozen or more "coins" with either this exact same design, or one that's very similar. There's one posted in this old thread, for example.

Thanks so much. The script was driving me crazy because it did not seem to match up with Arabic, or really anything else. Wish I knew where and when it was purchased and what he or she thought she was buying!
Thanks again!
