I politely informed the seller and they thanked me for my time. Besides the questionable die markers on the obverse, there are tell- tale die cracks on the reverse at 11 o'clock and 2 o'clock that I've never seen on a No D. The cracks are only present on the reverses of some 1922 Ds. Seller might be covered because they mention possible weak D in the description. edit: sorry I forgot the link....too concerned about getting the pics http://www.ebay.com/itm/1922-Plain-...:RTQ:US:1123 Edited by edweather 06/18/2015 1:47 pm

That rev crack at 11:00 does come on one of the weak D varieties.

You can see remnants of the weak "D" in the photo of the obverse. The Seller isn't exactly lying, but he sure isn't telling the truth either with the comments about it "....might be a weak D...but I can't see it...." blah, blah, blah. All he needs to do to see it is open his eyes and get a magnifying glass! These are the types of listings that will eventually force ebay to go to a policy of "slabbed only" for key date coins.

In the sellers feedback they have this description for a coin sold in the last 6 months (no link to view the item) "1922 Plain or Weak D Lincoln Cent (# 191516857943)" (this link does not take you to the listing) I wonder if it's from the estate of the same "local collector" and if he/she took it to their same "favorite coin dealer who thought it might be a weak D."

Quote: Well, not sure if I should report it or not? Yeah, I'm not sure exactly what the ebay listing rules are. Even though the banner doesn't mention the weak D, they did do a CYA in their description. Maybe just a good lesson here to know the coin you're buying.

The reverse crack at 11:00 is also found on Die Pair 1 of the "no D" issue. I can't see the D, personally.

This 'could' be a nice example of a No D weak reverse die pair 1. The pics are still not good enough to make that determination though imo.

I saw that the other day, before this thread was posted. May have even been yesterday. I thought it looked funny.
