Is the outside edge of the coin out of round? It so, it may have been altered. The reverse also looks like it had a tough life.

Not out of round. The die cracks are in areas that I have not seen before. John1

I am 99% sure it is not PSD. But what would cause it and what would it be called? John1

To me - the area below the Memorial looks like those could be bubbles - those above look like cracks.

I've seen this too; sometimes raised and sometimes sunken. When sunken it has the appearance of a poor planchet. But given the frequency, I tossed that idea out.

I cannot tell from the photo whether the area by the date is raised or sunken...?
I guess if it were sunken, that would rule out peripheral die damage.
It looks raised to me from the photo.
