i picked up a box of pennies the other day. I didn't notice until today it had "2015" stamped on the tape of the brinks box. I was disappointed because I wanted LWCs and coppers but thought I'd get some BU 2015 rolls. Instead each roll has approximately 45-48 AU 2015s and then 2-5 other pennies. None of the 15's appear BU though. It's almost like someone opened a bunch of rolls and turned them back into brinks. Not sure why there's 2-5 others in there (for example the one roll I opened had 48 2015s circulated/AU, a 78, and a 99). I'm not sure it's even worth the effort of going through these but as I said there's 2-5 others in each roll so it's possible I could find something good I guess. Any known errors with shield cents I should look for?

There are doubled dies. It would take a long time to look at each one though. You might get a few bucks per doubled die so think to yourself, is the amount of money made by finding a few, maybe even no varieties worth ours of my time? Don't forget it hurts your eyes too.

I found it odd that I got so many 2015s but didn't see one solid roll (rolls are clear so I can see through them). I see a few in each roll that are darker so I'm assuming those are not 2015.

Maybe someone already cherry picked the box and replaced them with randoms.

Don't be so bummed, I've had worse.

Imagine me walking into my bank, all excited to get my weekly penny box as usual, and for them to give me a box, and I get home JUST to realize the box was opened & there's all searched cent rolls from someone else.

I ended up cracking open the rolls (I'm a CRH'er what can I say?). I didn't look for any errors, just threw all the 2015's in a big bag that I will probably return at some point. Pretty bad box overall but like you said Drew, could have been worse.

A whopping 50 non verdigris LMC coppers, 5 1982's, 1 2009, 1 canadian, and 1 LMC S coin. ZERO wheat cents :( Probably about $22 in 2015's and the other remaining amount were crappy zinc LMCs.
