There really isn't a perfect forum for this - I suppose that General would be best, but I don't expect to ever be allowed to post there - but I'll try here.

I was wondering if anyone's expertise in silver might extend to silverware. I have my mother's sterling silver flatware. I don't use it, and in fact I'm not even that crazy about it, so I'm starting to think about selling, and have been nosing around ideas.

I know that there are options like Replacements, but they seem to pay very little (and then charge quite a lot), so that doesn't seem like a great route. And I don't do ebay. Any suggestions?

Rest in Peace

I can only share my experience. I inherited two sets of fairly old silver and I searched to find their value. It appears they are worth melt and melting is what is likely to happen to them if I ever sold them.

I did not want to sell them. I just wanted to know if one set was worth more than the other because I will probably give them to my nieces.

Anyway, there didn't seem to be any market for them at all.
