It's hard to get past VG-10.

I think they gave it a VG-10.

NGC says: VG-08 details, improperly cleaned. Nicely done, TypeCoin :)

Surprised no one picked up on the details grade yet. Maybe it's worth a breakout.

Obv is improperly cleaned, right? If not, I don't see it.

It looks cleaned to me, on the obverse, an old cleaning but still cleaned. I'll agree w/NGC on that one. But the surfaces are nice enough and presentable enough that it's not that big of a deal (especially since it's such a low-grade coin to begin with) that the cleaning doesn't detract too much from the coin.

These are getting very difficult to find at reasonable prices without environmental damage, porosity, corrosion, or severe PMD (gouges/scratches/clipped/holed) so I'll jump on the TPG-slabbed ones I can afford (i.e. less than $100) that have solid planchets, even if a details coin for cleaning. ( ebay seems to be full lately of large cent/half cent sellers selling damaged/corroded/porous raw coins at problem-free prices!)
