Hello everyone. Back in late March I bought a lot of coins that several of which turned out to be fake. I opened a Paypal dispute, returned the items, but the tracking number, (LX805261530CA), never stated that the package was received. As a result, I lost the case. As well as the coins and all the money spent on the coins and shipping. Roughly $170CAD. Link to the original listing: http://www.ebay.fr/itm/221722265421...RK:MEBIDX:ITYesterday, out of curiosity I checked out the sellers profile on ebay and to my amazement saw the same darn coins up for auction. Link to new listing: http://www.ebay.fr/itm/221805157101....m1436.l2649It is undeniable that these are the same coins. Does anyone want to share some advice on how to approach this? I greatly appreciate any input! Thanks

I would start with ebay customer support, tell them that you believe this seller has committed fraud and ask them what recourse you have. Be sure to include the details above. Another option is to re-open the original case, but I don't believe you can do,that once it is closed.

I just spoke with Canadapost's best and brightest and they told me that the status is always, 100%, updated to delivered if it did arrive. That, however, obviously doesn't reflect the reality of the situation. I tried reporting this case to ebay but they redirected me to Paypal. I submitted all the information I have, the two listings and the tracking number, and hope to god that the person(s) reviewing the case has half a brain. Should I confront the seller via email?

Well it did get to France , but you broke French postal regulations. You cannot send coins in the French post for at least the past year and a bit. Probably what happened is it was seized in customs and then released to to the seller without a signature. Unfortunate for you sorry! The insult is that you can see the same coins being offered and at a higher price ouch!

So, did the seller also violate the law when the coins were originally shipped? I doubt if ebay or PayPal would care about the shipping details other than who is lying, and that's a no-brainer. Plus, it's not just a payment and shipping question (PayPal), but also an ebay issue of the items being "not as advertised", and that would not be for ebay to decide, but PayPal - and it's ebay that advertises their buyer protection plan, so they need to step up to the plate and not just pass the buck. It is also ebay, not PayPal, that is allowing this second sale of the same merchandise, and their records that track the sales. Oh, and SAVE THE SCANS, they will not be online forever. -Dunc

I have images saved in pdf form of both the listings. The only problem is finding someone in either the Paypal or ebay corporations that is willing to examine the details of this case. I'm also thankful that this guy was stupid enough to re-list these coins as I would have had no way to know otherwise.

I sent three emails to Paypal, all with more than enough information, concerning the case and they responded with a copy-paste email stating that they wouldn't do anything without valid tracking information. I guess I have to phone up Canadapost again, find a knowledgeable person, and see if they can resolve the issue with the tracking number.
This is very painful.

One thing you can do is contact Canadapost SECURITY ,with the information you have. They might be able to help you out. The package got to France obviously .

I am not familiar with the laws of Canada, but in the united states it sounds like this may have constituted both mail and wire fraud.

The French law prohibits mailing of coins and currency which are current legal tender as well as precious metal bullion (bars, rounds coins). Collectible coins are not prohibited.
