Any noticeable difference? for all around use? coins included? I see these on ebay often for $200 bux or so, seems like one of the better cameras for general use.

Ok, I see already that part of my question is answered in GR58's thread: these rebel cameras need to be "XS" designated for starters no?

The XS (1000D) is the first generation of Canon consumer dSLR's to include Live View. Every subsequent generation has the capability. Keep in mind, the XS, T3 (1100D) and T5 (1200D) are separate downmarket models from their accompanying XSi, T3i and T5i models which are the full-featured versions. They have reduced capabilities like fewer focus points and slower burst shooting, but nothing affecting their capability with coins.

So Dave: a t3i would be a better all round camera right? Burst shooting/better focus features and so on... as well as being/having the live view/computer monitor focus features of the (lesser? feature wise?) XS? One step at a time.... I'm just trying to buy the right body/macro lens combo w/o messing up!

Not a expert ... but I have been reading some on camera's
lately.

As seen in my thread .. I just bought a T5i. I choose that
model because I wanted some of the other features it has.
Like video and burst.

If I was just looking at taking pictures, with a highlight
on coin photo's then I would have picked the T5. I think
the prices of a T3 and T5 are close enough where the T5
might be the better purchase.

Not just the Megapixels, 12 vs 18. In my opinion the electronics
of the T5 are a little more updated.

But both should take very good pictures. If one was a much
better price than the other .. I would buy the cheaper one
and maybe put some money into a good macro lens .. or the
bellows system seen on other CCF threads.
