I know alot about stamps because I sold my dad's postage stamp collection. Now it's on to his coins! I found this in a box with other error coins. Is this an indent error? It's a 1917 penny. I had a hard time taking good pics because of bad lighting through my window today. Any info will be appreciated! Thanks!

My dad had written information on so many of the other errors so I had a feeling since he didn't write anything for this one that is was probably damage. Thanks for the quick reply!

Indents are from another coin that was blocking a full strike. Usually they show the outline of the coin that was in the way. They show on one side of the coin and not on both sides. The opposite sides are usually normal.

Ok Cascade... I guess I need to rephrase that?! LOL!! What I meant to say was he had written information FOR each error coin on paper.... Of course not on the coins themselves!

Anyone can sell things. It would be wise for you to learn BEFORE you sell.

cwb: I'm not selling his coins yet. I was a stamp collector many years ago and gave myself a "refresher" course before I started putting them up for sale. I also collected coins many years ago. I will do alot of studying before I start selling his coins. I didn't get into the coin collecting as much as I did stamps.

Looks like someone tried to cut it into and didn't have enough strength to finish the job.
