That way the majority of tool marks and other imperfections will be omitted. For the same reason, certification is no guarantee that a weak strike is genuine. I've seen at least one probable counterfeit weak strike in a top tier slab -- a Buffalo nickel struck seven times. I've also seen a number of fully-struck counterfeit error coins in top-tier slabs. The coin under discussion would have to be examined under a microscope by someone familiar with struck counterfeits. Error coin writer and researcher. Report this Post to the Staff
