After finding out in the ancient forum that one of the coins I recently bought might be a fake it's nice to know I don't have to worry about this one. I really like fakes that are sold honestly, you get all the history of the coin it's imitating along with a criminal mystery.

I'm planning on having it XRF'd to find out what it's made out of, pewter, silver or platinum. It sounds strange to think of forging a gold coin with platinum but I'm told that it happened.

Anyhow, I'm quite fond of it :)

Just slightly under 10 grams (9.75 give or take .1 depending on how my scales are feeling at the time). The color reflected off the plating is making the silver non-plated parts look more yellow than they are, it looks quite silver in person, might try and take another photo later today. The weight would appear to be too high for silver but I haven't got a micrometer to check the thickness, the XRF should clear it up though.
