Help please?

My boyfriend's family had a few 20 dollar gold pieces from generations ago. I believe date was 1897. They were Double Eagle Liberty Heads.

One was in my boyfriend's home - and was stolen sometime between June 11 and June 24 2015 I believe. Some cash was also stolen.

I have called the Sheriff for his area. The sheriff told me to call all the pawn shops in the area - which I tried to do, but there might be some I didn't find. Some pawn shops suggested calling jewelery shops, because the jewelers are subject to fewer laws about recording who they buy from! I called many of those shops. I called also gold buying shops. Any info that was useful I gave to the sheriff, but I'm still not ready to quit trying.

Sadly, my boyfriend thinks I took it - and now I'm working as hard as I can to clear my name. I can't let him believe such a total lie. Our relationship is over because of this - but I can't let him go on believing I did such a thing even if we are over! (10+ years relationship.) I can't live with having this lie attached to my name.

Some of the shop owners were very helpful, but a few were the opposite of forthcoming in telling me anything. One gave me a tip about a shop in a big city - and that big city shop did have a coin in stock to match my description - the police are following up on that lead, but I still can't quit until I find the end of the trail for certain.

I do suspect the people who live next door to him. They are substance abusers and known felons who are constantly in trouble with the law for serious crimes. They may have known about the coin and cash and where to look for it. They would know exactly when he was away from the house. They also know how to get into the house. I told the sheriff about this as well.

Where else can I look? Can you spread the word, please? I have to find this coin - or at least prove my innocence.

Thank you. And thank you for moving it. I looked for a crime area to post this in - but obviously missed it. Sorry. My stress levels are just too high over this.

The investigating deputy is off duty until Monday - so I'm on my own until then. Any suggestions are welcome.

LML, What city do you live in (zip code)? Do you have any pictures of the coin? any "bagmarks" or flaws will help to identify the exact coin... I strongly recommend checking out your local craigslist, and ebay listings in your area.
