Uhh I envy this. Every bank I ask for halves they look at me like I'm crazy.

I find this story very hard to believe. Even older folks should know that silver coins from pre-64 are worth more than face.

Unbelievable what gets thrown away when some old person dies. You have to see it to believe it.

You're right, loonyrich. Maybe the older person knew the silver was worth a premium, but their kids and executors often do not.

As spectacular as the find is, congratulations, I'd love to know the story behind how they got there? Unfortunately we'll never know, but was it inherited, stolen or just stupidity on the depositor & bank teller.

I would also add that any bank teller with an IQ over 10 would set them aside for themselves.

This is amazing a find of a lifetime! Did you ask if the person brought in any other coins?

Wow is right. The bank where I do most of my business has a teller that collects coins, no chance of me finding anything there.
