Hows it going CC. I believe I've come across my 1st double struck penny which is seen on the reverse side of the coin. A picture is only worth a thousand words, heres a few:

Double-Strike-1989-D-Penny

Double-Strike-1989-D-Penny

Double-Strike-1989-D-Penny

You can see the doubling on pretty much all the lettering on the reverse side as well as the lincoln memorial. I didn't spot anything on the obverse but posted the pics anyway. I appreciate any input and what would you suggest I do with it?

Thanks
Ruben

If it was double struck, you would be able to see it on both sides of the coin.

Now, if you are talking a bout a doubled die That would be different. A doubled die can be on the reverse, the obverse, or both. with just split plating. sorry.

I see, I honestly did think it was just on one side only. You learn something new everyday like the saying goes. Do you suggest I hold on to it in case it might have some value in the future?

Thanks for the input fellas

Hold on to it as an example to compare future finds.

Since it is common and just leads to zinc rot, with is disgusting and is why most zinc cents never last, keep it for comparison until it gets all yucky.

Split plating doubling. Quite common and of no value.
