Hello Everyone,
I have a 1964D Roosevelt dime which has doubling on the reverse side(photos enclosed).I have been told that it's the coin from the Red Book which has soom value and I been told that it is not.Being a newbie it's hard for me to determine
if it's the DDR-001,DDR-003,or neither.Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank You

Fernando

Looks like Strike Doubling to me.

Nope...this is a doubled die, and a nice one too. I don't have any references handy, but it appears it could be the big one. Because I don't have references handy, I cannot guess at value.

Kinda hard to tell but is there doubling on the tips of the leaves and top of the flame? Is so, it's FS-10-1964D-801/CONECA 1-R-1.

If there is doubling in oak stems and lesser doubling on RIBUS UNUM & AMERICA, it is the FS-10-1964D-802/CONECA 3-R-V.

If there is moderate doubling on OF AMERICA, DIME, US UNUM, and the oak leave on the right, it is FS-10-1964D-803.

Info was taken from Cherry Picker's Guide, 4th Ed., Vol II

Hope this helps?

I have a quick question, at first it does look like MD (looks flat), then I noticed how the doubling follows a clockwise pattern and you can see the split serifs. If it was MD the doubling would be all to the same side?
Is this reasoning correct?

I quoted from an earlier post. It looks like this one.

Not many reported, The CPG says only one reported at the time of the books editing process. NICE FIND!

Mechanical Doubling can often be caused by a loose die. The die chatters, It can "chatter" in a clockwise direction or a counter-clockwise direction or both during a strike.

While most often a coin is encountered with the Mechanical Doubling appearing in one direction, I have seen it where both sides of the lettering and devices are effected by the strike.

Mechanical Doubling can be found on some or all of the devices or lettering and can be inconsistent at times as to the apparent direction.

Thanks,
Bill
