Not sure about this coin. I am not a collector but have some coins a family member passed down. There seems to be a pool of extra silver & 2 cracks near top rim in LIBERTY.

to CCF. Scans are not the best for coins in most cases. Looks like staining not cracks to me.

by current pics, either stain or glue maybe. If glue or organic gunk an acetone soak would tell the tell. Remember no harsh scrubbing needed or recommended. Thanks, Doug.

Thanks for the information, not staining, put it under a magnifying glass. looks like small pool beneath the letters. Any idea how I can post better pictures from my scanner? Thanks all!!

There's an excellent forum under general discussion called 'coin photography' might be helpful,good luck-definitely can't tell if they are cracks from the current pics

If you only have an iphone and loupe there are some good apps to download with macro lenses that work great
