"Well, I saw Lon Chaney walkin' with the queen
Doin' the werewolves of London
I saw Lon Chaney Jr. walkin' with the queen
Doin' the werewolves of London
I saw a werewolf drinkin' a pina colada at Trader Vic's

And his hair was perfect"

I can't resist.............

I was in Philadelphia 5 or 6 years ago, staying at a hotel near Chinatown and one evening I took the teenage crew I was with to a nearby Chinese restaurant. Lee How Fook A tiny place. Customized our order for a picky teen. GREAT FOOD.

However, I kept scratching my head because I felt I should know the name. Within 10 minutes I realized it was from Warren Zevon's song on this thread!!

The song has been in my head for weeks !
The reverse on this one looked a bit weak in the sellers pics.
A combination of an angled shot and a narrow field of focus made the reverse hard to fully fathom.
It is actually in better condition than it appears. A double strike has flattened out some areas and complicated some of the details.
But the bust really excited me ! The artist is showing his talents in the way he rendered the hair beard and mustache. Even the ribbons behind the head simply float in the air unattached. The idea is to give an idea of form without trying to render a precise depiction of reality.
The amazing variety of artistic styles at this period is remarkable. Some are similar to the 'ants' of Aurelian and Probus while others run the whole spectrum from 'simian' to cartoon like caricatures.
The world was changing fast ! But for one brief period of a decade or so the coins used by the common folks came in at a very respectable 9-11 grams. After the unimpressive weights of the preceding 40 years it must have seemed like the economy was set back on course and happy days were indeed here again !
