That's very interesting! Seems around 1900 it was quite common for silver coins to be made into jewelry. I often wonder if the particular coin/s held a special significance to the original owner - too bad those 5c can't talk!

It was probably made during the World War I era and I suspect there's something related.

Yes, that's a very good possibility. Possibly it could be similar to a "family ring" - twins born in 1916 and a 3rd child in 1917, safely tucked away in a soldiers belongings as he entered WW1 midway.
