Is this a godless 1911 quarter?

What's the meaning of the "U" stamped on one side?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, it is a 1911 Godless Quarter, no idea who stamped the "U" or what it means.

The "U" is a counterstamp. I don't think this one can be traced to a specific meaning or person.

I'm not adding much more here than just seconding zxcccxz's opinion... I agree, definitely the 1911 "godless" obverse.
I have no idea what the U is all about.
