ive been shopping around for coin tubes and wanted some opinions. Anco offers penny OR nickel tubes. How does this work? Wouldn't the pennies slide around if the tubes big enough to hold nickels? I also see BCW and Kointube brands. For a little more they have Harris brand. Any difference? Too many choices!!

I think the cents would slide around in the tubes. However, I would say that you should buy Whitman coin tubes because they are cheap and alot better. Plus they make numerous other coin collecting supplies, and they are one of the better companys out there.

Honestly, I don't know which brand is the best. I've used Harris coin tubes for years and they seem to hold up well (fairly inexpensive too).

I heard the square tubes are not that good. something about the plastic being too soft.
PVC ? I use Whitman clear round , I only pay .25 each. never had a problem.

I too use the Whitman tubes but only due to that is what I find at coin shows. And they are really cheap there.

So does anyone have info on "Koin Tubes"? I found a deal for less than 30c a piece shipped which works for me. I cant find a webpage or anything that shows what they are made of though. I don't want them to damage my coins!

I like KoinTubes myself. I've bought 100 dime tubes and 100 quarter tubes and the semi-transparent tubes with screw on lids are great for me. I went with KoinTubes because they were the cheapest I could find (about $0.25 - $0.30 per tube), and now I plan to buy another box of half-dollar KoinTubes.

oh, and of course, pennies wud slide around in nickel tubes. this is why tubes are designed for the type of coin you want. So for pennies, you want penny tubes. For nickels, you want nickel tubes, etc. I recommend NOT using tubes for a *different* coin than what you put in them. I think that defeats several purposes. we know that pennies come in 50 pennies per roll, and nickels rolls are $2 rolls with 40 nickels. but I have no idea how many pennies wud fit in a tube for nickels. the reason I put my coins in tubes is so that I can easily count them by the roll. I think non-conformance to this wud be counter-productive. but 'to each his own'. you can do what you want. :)
