Grease filled die, most likely.

I agree, Grease Fill element is a likely cause. As for being collectible ?

Not grease. Over polished die. See the die polishing lines in the fields? Improperly/over polished.

I have to agree with BJ on this one. If it were over polished, then the columns would be thinner/narrowed. I'm not seeing that on this coin. Partial Grease Filled Die.

Ok, I will trust that, but for my learning sake, isn't the statue a slightly lower relief than the pillars, witch would cause it to start thinning out before the pillars did?

Yes. If they statue is lower on the coin, then the die was over polished. Note over all weakness of the statue on my coin? On your coin, part of the statue is there and part isn't. So there was a bit of grease on the die during the strike.

I have over a dozen of these now. How many coins normally get struck through before the die is clear again?

It is pretty minor, so there would probably be no demand for these. But an answer to your question: Until enough debris gets mixed into the grease or a die cleaning happens.
