Over the last few years, many of you have seen the evolution of this set as final pieces were acquired and upgrades were made. After additional improvements the set is now in the PCGS Registry as The Sir Isaac Coffin Collection. Those of you who are interested in Canadian tokens might know Sir Isaac Coffin as the issuer of the popular Magdalen Island token. His name was given to the collection after it was discovered I am among his direct descendants.

The decision to go the PCGS route came after making a number of upgrades which resulted in most of set residing in PCGS holders. Desiring uniformity in presentation, I replaced two NGC coins with PCGS and cut my 1880 out of an ICCS flip with a conservative grade of AU-50 and submitted it to PCGS after obtaining a membership. Protection was another motivator; though I own many bronze and silver coins in ICCS containers, I thought the 1880 would be safer in a hard plastic holder.

Further upgrades will be made if the right coin is found. If I can advance to 4th current finest on the registry, I'd be ranked 5th all-time finest. For now, Sir Isaac sits at 5th current finest. At 29, I'm in no rush and plan to take a break to enjoy the set as it sits. Here now is a link to the registry along with supplementary photos:

A very nice set. This series was one I had once considered collecting myself... although, after holding the Perth Collection in my hands at a "show-and-tell" at the pub at a Coin Expo a couple years ago... I decided to have more fun chasing the NFLD 1-cent coins.

Well done, that 1880 is a nice coin, and the PCGS set composition does not really reflect its rarity.
