If you were $116 from maxing out your CC then you probably shouldn't be buying anything.....

Just a thought...

Well I can't speak for Atlas but I have a friend who ordered and he uses a pre-added debit card since he doesn't want a credit card. Whenever he wants a big purchase he deposits cash to the card.

The mint should give us all free eagles for their billing mistake.

I was double charged for the order also, but one looks like a pre-auth which should fall off in a few days.

Before purchasing, I confirmed I had $155 available in credit, more than enough to cover two sets and shipping, with no pending charges. This makes it really odd that it was declined, unless the system charged it twice (what with the glitches on the checkout screen) or placed a pending charge for over $155.

Debit card now carries the charge and credit card is fully paid off (should have done it yesterday, lesson learned I guess)

That's all I care to share about my finances at this time, so I'm off for the day.

I'll leave you all with this though, a statement from the Mint:

The main United States Mint web page, http://www.usmint.gov, was down from 12:04 p.m. to 12:21 p.m. due to an issue with a computer application unrelated to the launch of the 2015 Coin & Chronicles Set - Dwight D. Eisenhower. This application issue did not have an effect on any catalog pages, including the web page for the 2015 Coin & Chronicles Set - Dwight D. Eisenhower. Customers were still able to order the 2015 Coin & Chronicles Set - Dwight D. Eisenhower, which became Unavailable at 12:16 p.m., meaning the U.S. Mint is currently out of this item, but more may be available later. Any customer who may have normally entered the catalog site, which is any page that starts with catalog.usmint.gov, would not have experienced any issues. Any customer who attempted to enter through http://www.usmint.gov from 12:04 p.m. to 12:21 p.m. would have encountered an error trying to get to the catalog site. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused customers.

That is bs. The problem for me wasn't that the site was down. It was that it kept throwing up errors and timing out. By the time my order went through with all the page refreshes I had to do, it was after 12:04. So if I was on a page that was totally down, my order would not have gone in, yet it finally did after many page refreshes and frustration.

It sounds like someone at the mints IT department is throwing a bunch of be out to cover their asses. It sounds like an IT bs answer, and I should know, since I work in IT and give bs answers all the time. Lol.

Well I managed to get my 2 sets with various problems that the site went through.

However, then my brother called me saying that the site wasn't working for him and asked me to order them for him. I scrambled and managed to get that done at 12:04. Then my dad called and asked the same and I got his in at 12:07, so it was a very active time for me around noon.
