Cjeranek New Member United States 32 Posts	Posted 07/10/2015 2:17 pm I picked this gem up at an antique store for $12.50 a couple days ago and just got around to looking at it closer with my loupe. I've been horrible at distinguishing between true double dies and Machine Doubling. Is this something that should be graded and encapsulated? I'd go to my local coin shop but I think they ripped me off last time I was there. PLEASE HELP! Report this Post to the Staff

Heres how to tell the difference: Machine Doubling reduces the size of the devices and the "Doubled" portion is slightly lower than the normal devices. True doubling increases the size of the devices and the doubling is the same hight as the normal devices. Coop has good graphics or this... Report this Post to the Staff

So basically it would be a junk coin because Machine Doubling takes away from the value correct? Even though it is a V-no cents and in pretty good condition otherwise? Definitely not worth grading?
