Guys I was just curious how many are searching them, and if you are finding proofs and other non circulating toonies?

Is it worth it?

I found an uncirculated year 2000 Knowledge toonie in my change a while ago. One variety to look out for is the Type 1 variety of the 2012 toonie, it has no security features on it and is scarcer because the Mint suddenly stopped producing them.

What loons and toons are worth more than FV? I bought a CND lot a while ago and the guy had some of the $1 and $2 coins in flips. I couldn't figure out why, dates ranged from 81 to 2000 so I know the metal composition isn't valuable.

there are a lot of special proof/specimen made. each year there is a special set with a special toonie. there are silver loonies out there, silver/gold tooonies.

these would all have to be cracked out of mint sets, but I have found silver quarters and dimes cracked out of modern mint sets, so I was curious if people found the loonies or toonies as well.

I search toonies on occasion, but mostly because my toonie set is 100% circulation finds. I don't find proofs (which I probably wouldn't recognize anyways), N.I.I.s, or silver/gold toonies. I find a few nice ones that sometimes are upgrades, but not worth more than $2. For me, it's hardly worth it but I do it anyways.

Once I found a toonie with a mint-set finish in circulation. It was impaired, of course, but I kept it anyway - it's a nice way to illustrate why they don't use the mint-set finish on circulating coins (because wear really shows up on it).

I search through toonies when I can afford it, because the commemoratives are quite popular overseas so they are good for trading. And aren't those 2012 old-style toonies worth keeping? I still haven't found one.
