Hi Everyone,

I'm hoping someone can help me identify what variety of 1859 Large Cent this is. I believe it to be a Re-punched 5. If so, what should I consider to be a "book-value" for this coin? It has been graded by PCGS as 1859 Narrow 9 MS-64RB, the variety of the 5 was not attributed.
Opinions welcome!

In my opinion from what I have seen online, given that your coin is MS-64RB grade and with a re-punched 5 ive seen go for around $2,500 to about $3,500. Therefore I'd say $3,100 book possibly? hopfully this helped you out !

Haxby variety 45b1 / K2.

The variety is not particularly rare,
but the grade is wonderful.

value 300.

I be-leave this is Haxby PC59-45b1

Die Pair
45b + K2
But I will not quote a price and I also do not think that it is the re-punched 5 that is worth that amount of money.
(My thoughts)
Nice coin
Cheers Don

It's hard to find an 1859 WITHOUT a repunched digit and the 5's (many different ones) are relatively common, so I agree with Doug's $300 or so. It is worth no more than a regular 64 1859, and maybe less because of the carbon spots and green PVC at 12:00 on the reverse. It's a beutiful coin that shows all of Vicky's beauty and a keeper for sure.

Thanks for the comments and compliments everyone!
okiecoiner, your comment about PVC made me sweat a bit... rest assured, I had a good look over the coin with my 16x loupe and found no trace of PVC, must have been a goofy reflection off of the holder, but good eye nonetheless.
From what I've been reading, it almost seems as though no two 1859's are the same... so many varieties and errors exist that it's hard to find a truly regular 1859.
