My guess is that it's a gambling token or souvenir from a cruise ship.

That's what I was thinking too.. It's pretty large and heavy though so I am really curious about where exactly it's from.. I've spent over an hour trying to find it but it's so difficult because there's no words!

I do believe it's a Holland America Cruise Line token. Usually you find 25 cent ones, but I think that might be a dollar one. Check this out http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces36478.html

What I find interesting is that there are no words on it. From what I have seen the twenty-five cent pieces have no words on the side with the boat, but the dollar one has the same images as the coins posted here only with words below the boat.

Link one!

Link two (scroll to Holland America (the third one) for images)!

Oh wow thank you so much!! It really is strange that mine doesn't have any words right? I have no clue how you guys found that but I really appreciate it! Let me know if you find out anything about the reasoning behind it being wordless please!

I have no idea on its value, but it is a really cool piece nonetheless!

This site: http://www.hollandamericaline.us/casino-tokens/

is dedicated to the various tokens from this cruise line. It has pictures of several, including yours (as the "large clouds" variety I believe) . It is not clear to me what denomination you token was, or even if it had one. I suspect with this info you could do more google or ebay searching.
