Hard to say. It's a very nice looking coin for the most part, and if the Liberty had been more well defined I'd say it could be XF-40. However, from the picture provided it looks like its seen better days. VF-30 sounds reasonable to me, maybe VF-35.

Hope this pic helps to clarify. Liberty is totally crisp.

AU? If you could, try taking pictures of the coin straight on instead of at an angle. It will give us a better look at the detail and whether or not the coin is cleaned.

Could be MS, but really hard to tell. Yeah, take pics straight on and adjust white balance.

AU details, the surface looks brushed like those you see in bolo ties and belt buckles. Anyway, surface is not original.

Ah that's better. With the nicer photo I'd say XF-45 to AU-50

There does seem to be some suggestion of brushing or perhaps die polishing lines, but it's unclear from soft photos. Definitely AU to me.

AU details, far from being a VF piece.

The Morgan dollar series is not dependent on grading from the "Liberty". There are AG pieces with full Liberties, yet alone a fair share of FR pieces too.

You are thinking about the barber series. Do not let your grading be limited just from some minor aspects of a coin. You need to broaden your sight and look at other details.

Btw, if you are a seller of coins, and you undergrade, please please PLEASE come to me before you sell anything else.

But, no, seriously, my best deals have been from dealers who undergrade.

Mistakes are made, not trying to give you a hard time over it.
