Is this an actual Mexican silver coin or is it just a Mexican silver round? If it's a coin, which one is it?

It's an Onza, the Mexican government bullion coin - their equivalent of the American ASE. Listed in the Krause world coin catalogues as KM# 494.4, mintage 400,000.

Sleak, anytime you see .999 or some reference to the purity, it is bullion.

Oh! Ok thanks. I guess it's basically it's worth it's weight in silver lol. I guess paying $18 for it was too much. I'm a n00b

I like the toning that started to form on it after I bought it.

Sleaklight - $18 isn't bad. I thing the average price is $16-$18 so you did fine.

Amazon99 - The toning is nice, especially on the obverse. The toning actually looks like it's part of the design as it gives a really cool sky effect above the mountains.
