So I've been selling for about 2 years now, not full time or anything, just clearing out coins I have upgraded and grown wary of.

I've given paypal $1000 or more of business per quarter and have had several dozen transactions, all with no hiccups. So why is paypal still holding my money for 21 days?

Does anyone know what time frame I should accept before this is reduced to say 7 days? or 3 days?
Rest in Peace

They know how devious all you Canadians are...

...but seriously...

PayPal seems to have a fairly archaic "grading" that includes length of time on ebay, with PayPal, highest $ month, hi $ year, transactions, and so on.

I've never figured it out, really. Maybe the days they need your money as their money, depending on interest rates, so they can make another billion or two.

It's ironic that I've never had PayPal hold $1 for even 1 day. I was on ebay for several years before my first sale about 5 years ago. Give then a call and see what they say.

21 days is ridiculous. They used to hold my money in the beginning, but not now. Once an echeck took a while to clear. But yes, definitely call them and ask why.

I called paypal and the rep told me that despite what I may clear in value, I do not clear enough volume. Apparently they require 100 successful sales on ebay before they stop imposing their 21 day blockade on you.

Frankly I find this to be ridculous, seeing as to all the ebay sellers who sell digital pictures or cooking recipes or common date pennies on ebay and use that to farm feedback and then are free to scam whoever they want afterwards.

Basically Paypal has a large list of conditions that must all be met before they release your money to you, all designed to make sure they hold your money for 21 days and collect large amounts of interest on the billions of dollars in their company accounts.
