Gee, why would anyone put a $100,000 1793 Wreath Cent for sale starting at $1,999 on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stunning-17...em1c5608d0e5Perhaps because the coin is either a counterfeit or more likely an electrotype. Clearly the coin is not real as there is no sign of the reverse die break found on the s-8 wreath cents. This is why you should noy buy raw expensive coins on ebay. Obviously the owner of this fake coin jnows it is not real.

Definitely counterfeit. Look at that rim that's not supposed to be there.

The rim is a dead giveaway to anyone who has even a slight knowlegde of these coins. However, the design is good enough to fool a novice. This is not the low quality trash that comes out of china, it's a well made electrotype likely for a museum.

That's an obvious fake. The rim is a huge red flag, but any smart collector knows that there is no rims on wreath cents.

He also deals in rare prototypes http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mint-Error-...em1c560504c4I've never seen a better example of the eagle-with-flagpole-in-beak reverse. The tennis shoes over the talons exemplify a kinder, gentler America. Though he doesn't believe in TPG's, his 14 day return policy doesn't allow much time for those of us who do. And authenticity is irrelevant anyway because the only thing guaranteed is that you will receive exactly what you see.

Reported. (did not message)
He'll be NARU soon, especially if he insists on using the word "authentic" in his listings.

It appears this seller picked up an old ebay username and account to sell fake coins. Interesting that all the sales transactions for positive feedback are over a year old (except the last two are current for coins), but not one of the old transactions was for a sale of a coin, and his current sales inventory is all coins.
