Is this pretty common? Any value above face?

Looks like it may be, or may not be, a Grease Filled Die. Either way it would be a very minor filled die and not very collectible to most. But to each their own and collect what you like.

Probably a Struck Through Grease. They do happen a lot on the dimes in that area:
