Hello, I recently purchased my first gold coin. It is the 50th anniversary Kennedy gold half dollar. I know I'm supposed to keep all original packaging. Does this include things like the felt pad/white felt wrapper around the wood display box, or just the blue outer box, COA, and display box. I'm probably being a little paranoid I know, I just wanted to make sure. I would assume the felt items are mainly for shipping, and can be purchased anywhere.

While it may not matter to many/most collectors, it may matter to a collector down the line willing to pay a premium for "all" the packing, including the shipping box.

Since I never plan on ever selling anything, I just keep the display box and all it's contents, the blue outer box and most importantly the COA.

Thanks denco. I just thought it might be better not to store it with the white felt wrapper, that was around the wood display box. Especially considering that is something that can be obtained anywhere.

When in doubt, check out ebay and see how they are being sold and keep at least that.

Here is a link for an ebay search on the gold Kennedy half so you can check.

They even have a listing for just the packaging. This is common. Guys who slab the coins and then sell them often list the packaging for sale minus the coin in case someone wants it all and didn't save it or bought it on the secondary market without it.

I do not have this issue, but I would keep everything except the brown box in which it shipped.

Concur ... I keep everything except the actual USPS shipping box.

That gets properly recycled.
