From the photo above it appears that the CuNi 2p blank is the same size as the standard 2p blank. Is this the case? If so, what other CuNi blank is the same size as a 2p?

They are not that scarce ,i have one with a Royal Mint letter of confirmation.
Just really says was done on another blank intended for another country.

It amazes me when coins like this achieve ridiculous prices. I sold a job lot of error coins, about 30 in all, and there were 2 of these! I got £950 for the lot and was happy! I know these don't normally fetch more than £50 or so.. as usual, media gets hold of something and the idiots come along...

At least this appears to have gone towards a charity
