Hadrian sestertius 117-138 AD. 32.74mm/ 23.6gm.

OBV letters hard to read
COS III PP
REV Temple With letters X S C

This is Hadrian and the coin is similar to Sear 3649. The difference is that in the exergue the inscription is SPQR

A little worse for wear but still a very nice coin especially with that reverse.

The obverse of the Hadrian displays some odd metal bumps that I have seen on a few other ancient and I really cannot wrap my head around how they occurred. I don't doubt the authenticity of the coin but what formed those bumps? Was it at time of strike? Cleaning? What?

Interesting!

I've seen such bumps attributed to coins' exposure to fires at some points in their histories.

Bumps due to exposure to fire makes sense as Bob L said, otherwise nice variety.

Thanks all

I did get info, form another forum:

HADRIANVS AVG COS III PP /
reverse SPQR in ex. altered into EX SC which is ridiculous as S - C is already in the fields

This is extremely rare, especially with the extra columns at the sides (RIC, Cohen, BMC unlisted; Banti 312 only 1 spec. cited; Strack 660 only 2). Obv. legend: HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P
