Ok guys, I'm prepared to be told that I'm wrong AGAIN, but I still can't understand why. Please take a look at the following pics. They may seem redundant, but I wanted to be as thorough as possible. There was no point in posting larger pics of the obverse or reverse because there is no other doubling or anything interesting about the coin. It's in good shape, probably a MS62 red.

Please take a look at the pics and let me know what is up with the '8' in the date? It sure looks double-died to me.

Thanks in advance!

Not a doubled die.
It is Die Deterioration Doubling. No collector value.

Probably the LIBERTY is showing the same thing but on the left side of those devices.

I get why you want to make sure about this coin: because the "doubling" seems so clear. I had the same experience as a new collector, but now recognize pretty easily that this is not a genuine doubled die. Over time, one comes across a lot of these as well as the real deal, and one begins to understand the difference. But keep looking. The real doubled dies are out there to be found!
