From the mint:
In 2009, the United States Mint will mint and issue six quarter-dollar coins in honor of the District of Columbia and the five United States Territories: the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the United States Virgin Islands, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. These coins will be issued in equal sequential intervals in 2009 in the order listed.

Looks like we all need to buy new albums or add a page (if available).

In 2010 the Mint will release quarters in honor of all of the puppet governments the U.S. has set up over the years. This will really tax the Mint since it will mean releasing at least two quarters a month.

I ran out of spaces in all of my albums for current denominations a while ago. I started a custom album with cent, nickel, dime, and quarter pages to hold the new ones as they come out.
The quarter page has been on hold since 1998 because I broke down and actually bought a Statehood album. Since there is plenty of room, I will just start adding the 2009 series in there, allow it to "catch up" with the other denominations. Once this album is full, I will start another.
I only did the "replace the album with a bigger one to hold more dates" one time many years ago.

Its no big deal, I'm just buying a new page for my Dansco Album. Also 2010 will be the Frist year with a single quarter, but it may have a redesign Washington.

Dave, if only it were always that easy! The only album I ever had room to add a page to was my Jefferson album (which is filled now). Before it was filled, my Washington album ran out of room and I wanted to add proofs, so I moved from a four page (forgot the number, 71xx) to a seven page 8140. It was filled in 1994, but I did not want to upgrade it to an 8+ page version, so I kept it and just built the custom one. I do say, if a page will fit, do it!

Geez, figure in the four redesigned cents, pres dollars and the usual and you'll need a back brace to lift the mint set.
Anyone else think the mint is pushing it just a little bit?

The US Mint has no control over the situation. Blame the US House of Representatives- all coinage bills originate from that legislative body.

The Government finally realized that coins are a "cash cow."
Don't look for it to stop any time soon.

I dunno. In some ways, this could be seen as discouraging new collectors. Just look at all the coins you need to collect for each series. Doing a complete or near-complete Lincoln collection is almost a life-long pursuit. If you wanted to do a "complete" Washington quarter collection, how many coins would you have to amass? IMO, we should have a new series for each denomination so we can all buy new albums that can be transported without a wheelbarrow.
