thanks ray yes I see your point. the more one adds the more one sacrifice. I am going to work at finishing this lens and see how it goes. I will post some images later when it is done. this will either work or oh well. just something I wanted to try thank you for your help.

well I got one lens done. I find that is very hard to get focus. if anything moves a hair its out of focus. I put this lens together. its a lot easier with and enlarger lens. this lens you have to be back 1 meter plus. I would not recommend it because it is so touchy. like I said if anything moves a hair its out of focus. still have 2 more lens. I am working on theses are a lot more easier. just have to make a simple adapter. here is a photo. a crop photo from the first photo. these was taken with my canon in liveview.

Not bad at all. Looks like the lens is pretty flat field and sharp. 1 meter working distance, yet still touch with focus? Can you stop down the aperture or is it fixed wide open?

rocky...the lighting angles make the image look a lot different than before. Are you not able to do the same lighting technique now?

yes ray. I changed the lighting. I had to this coin has a different look to it. ray I think you and dave and so other members here are some of the best coin photographer. I have ever seen meaning your work and results. that you guys produce. ray I have some pennies have some of the most incredible toning I have ever seen. the colours are astounding. for some this would be so eye appealing. its is so easy to get them to tone into these rain bow colours. but the coins are simply beautiful. ray I would like to send you a couple of Canadian coins. they would be very near perfect. very shiny. I like if you would not mind take a some photos and post the images here. see the American and Canadian pennies are different. would you like to give it a try. I know you are busy. it would help other collectors of Canadian coins. your work is incredible and it shows. if you are interested. let me know a way that I could mail you a few. later this fall when I bring out these toned pennies. you will see colours that are amazing. but that is to collector that like toned coloured coins.

sure ray great later I will send you a few Canadian cents. I have to cross over into the USA in a couple of weeks. I plan on getting some USA coins in the state of Maine. next week the second club meeting is taking place. there is a very old gentleman there. that has some very nice American coins. if he is feeling well. he plans on bringing some in to the meeting. I told him about the forum here. I told him that there is a very knowledgeable group here. that I could get you guys to help him with his coins. so if he brings some in I will try to get some photos. to share here on the forum. he tells me he has some 3 cent American coins. plus some early American silver dollars. have a great one

OspreyCoins yes you are right. the lens is some thing . I wanted to try. I find that it is just very difficult to get it set. the focus is very touchy. it could be that one of the pieces of glass is out of line. time to put it away for awhile. I have another lens. I purchased out of the lower southern states. its in terrible shape. I think it went through a flood its been in salt water. fungus, rust, mould and haze. its a carl zeiss. a big lens going to see what I can do with this one it is a 200mm F4. I got it for pennies. see if I can make a coin lens out of it. going to try have a great one
