I was just watching a TV coin show and they were making a big deal about the fact that their sets had the enhanced coins in PL. I just checked my set and it's absolutely PL. Was PL uncommon for this coin or are they just blowing smoke? BTW, in my set, the enhanced actually has more cameo than the proof.

Mine has deep cameo and is reflective at a certain viewing angle, at another angle it just looks like normal luster with little cameo.

Of my 2 Kennedy sets, one has a normal Enhanced Unc (EU) and the other set has a proof like EU. The PL-EU's have commanded a higher premium after this discovery. I have not watched the market lately, so I do not know if the coins still have sky-high premiums.

Take it for what's worth, but the TV hawkers said the PL-EU Kennedy's were due to the dyes wearing out.
Rest in Peace

Generally speaking, if you see coins being advertised on a QVC type shopping network, you are not only paying for the coin you buy, but the spokesperson they are paying to show you the coin, the cost of production, which can be significant, and the air time or ad time to show it to you. Plus shipping and HANDLING, of course, and a big old giant profit just to round off the selling price to a nice even price.

...but wait...

Looked at mine again and it's PL from all angles. In fact, it pretty much looks like a proof. Thought I may have had them in the wrong spots, but it is the S that has the enhanced finish, correct?

In my opinion, it has nothing to do with die wear. I think that after a bunch came of the press in PL condition, they made some changes to the process to make them look like they were supposed to look.
