Can you measure and weigh the coin? looks like environmental toning, like it was in the ground for the last 15 years. Looks like there is some of the original color showing through at the top of the reverse edge, the scratch on the M, and beside the E.

Here are the dime specifications Look down the page a little to see the specs for the "Copper Nickel, Copper Clad (1965 - Present)"

Thank you! I was afraid it would look like the silver was shining through but it's actually the glare from the camera it is all copper colored. I will check the specs

Or it may have been exposed to (or dipped in) sulfuric acid and/or thiourea. Those are the active ingredients in a common jewelry/coin cleaner.

If you don't have a scale, you could use a Popsicle stick to see how it balances with a normal dime.

I'm even more interested in how the username "Treasures" wasn't taken until now...

I know ... I thought I would just try "tresures". My family teases me all of the time and says "mom and her treasures" . So that is why I chose it and why no one else had was quite a surprise. I guess meant for me. Lol

What?

No offense but it looks like a regular coin that was in the ground for a long time.

There is such a thing as missing clad, but that usually only affects one side and typically results in a weak strike. This just looks like a corroded dime. Hmm. Where's this coin shop? I want to make sure I never go there.
