What is policy for ending an auction early? I made a snipe bid on a coin and soon after the auction was ended early. It had no bids and a starting bid of .99 with 9 hours to go. I think I had a bid on another auction awhile ago that I was winning but the seller ended it early. I think once an item is put up for auction the seller should be obligated to follow through with the auction weather an item sells for .99 or not at all. What do you all think? John1

Absolutely , as long as the seller does not state " RESERVE HAS NOT BEEN MET"

Unless I'm mistaken, unfortunately an auction can be ended early. Not sure if ebay penalizes a seller for doing so, but they should. I agree that if something is an auction, it should be kept until it ends.

Seller can almost always end an auction early for many reasons, including various cop-outs such as "item not described correctly" or similar.

Eh, when you put up hundreds of listings, you're gonna make a mistake - I know I have done it and had to end auctions early before.

I am thinking he/she ends the auction because they are going to lose money on the sale. That is wrong,IMHO. John1

Oh I've been on the bay a while and I thought a seller could only end it early if a) Reserve not Met or b) no bids...

It's possible the seller sold it to someone else outside of ebay. Check to see if the seller relists the item. I'm more curious about your mention of making a 'snipe' bid. I consider a snipe bid as making your first (and only) bid on an item in the last six seconds or so of a sale. Do I have the description wrong?
