From the John Reich Collector Society a new book, The "Bust Dime Variety Identification Guide" makes it's debut at the ANA Show... From the mailing; Winston Zack, Louis Scuderi, Michael Sherrill, and many other bust dime enthusiasts are very pleased to announce a new bust dime book that will be available at ANA. After nearly two years in the works and with contributions by many of the leading experts on bust dimes, the authors have created "Bust Dime Variety Identification Guide." The book will assist collectors and dealers in attribution of all bust dimes through easy-to-follow explanations and color pictures. The book offers much more, too. Readers will appreciate the summary information for each year of mintage, discussion of number of estimated known examples, explanation of die marriages of known Proofs, and updated rarity ratings by die marriage. There are color pictures for each die marriage and a lot more information. This will be a must-own book for all bust dime collectors, cherry pickers, dealers in bust coinage, and anyone else that wants to learn more about bust dimes. The book is at the printer right now and will be available at the Wednesday, August 12th JRCS meeting at the ANA show. If you can't make the meeting, the book will also be available for $49 per copy at two tables on the bourse floor: David Wnuck Numismatics (table #920) and David Kahn Rare Coins (table #724). After the show, books will be available from Rich Uhrich Rare Coins, Americana Rare Coins, David Wnuck Numismatics, and David Kahn Rare Coins. I am always impressed by those who can have such focus on a particular type. Seems like a good group worked on this effort.

I met one of the authors at the ANA Summer Seminar. He sold the first copy of this book at the YN auction. He has quite the collection of bust dimes, and while we were sitting together on the Pikes Peak tour, he told me that he had owned one of the proof Draped Bust dollars at one time. He said he bought it for $3000 when he was 18, and he flipped it for a few hundred more.

I wondered if there was ever going to be an update to the older work. I'll have to acquire a copy for my library.

This should be right up Tbone and DSFreeworld's alley I too shall acquire a copy, first this one before the early half book I posted about, as I can actually afford some of these dimes. Too many good auctions coming up to order right away though, the September Charles Davis numismatic book auction looks amazing, I will post another thread on that.

I plan on purchasing this bust dime book as well.
Is there a book out there that is dedicated to the capped buster quarter series? A lot of my spare time is going into this series now and my very brief search didn't turn much up that I could find.

Connor on the book list on my computer, there are three I am aware of Early United States Quarters 1796-1838 by Steve Tompkins Early Quarter Dollars of the United States Mint 1796-1838 by Rory R. Rea, Dr. Glenn Peterson, Bradley S. Karoleff and John J. Kovach Jr. The Early Quarter Dollars of the United States, 1796-1838 by Browning and Breen 1998 I don't own any of these at the present time. I will say that Wizard Coin Supply has good descriptions of the first two http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/pro...-coin-books/-MV

Rich has some great books, many that can be hard to find, not cheap, but he gets them more often than not. I've purchased a few from him over the years, plus he also has really nice coins too.
